“The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.”

Habakkuk 2:20

God’s Voice, I’ve come to discover, is not typically an audible voice. God’s Voice is more of an impression upon the soul. It’s a nudge of the conscience towards our being the very...

“Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes...

“The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale.” (Proverbs 18:10-11)

“They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”

"Over the past 25 plus years of my pastoral ministry, several visitors have sat upon the brown couch in my office to share their hurts, challenges, losses and victories with me. But the brown coach is no longer just a piece of furniture - it is now a dimension of being. It is a place of introspection and retrospection, deconstruction and reconstruction. It is a safe place of rest and a willing workshop for crafting a better self. Enclosed here are some reflections and insights that I’ve learned from a wide assortment of individuals who have sat in this rare place of repose. Welcome to The Brown Couch."
